Tenuta di Montefoscoli

Winery in Hills of Pisa, Valdera

About the Winery

Located in the picturesque Pisan hills, Tenuta di Montefoscoli is steeped in Tuscany’s rich agricultural tradition. The estate's vineyards, primarily Sangiovese and Vermentino, are cultivated organically, reflecting a deep respect for the land. The heart of the winemaking process takes place in "La Tabaccaia," a restored 1922 building once used for drying tobacco. The estate is dedicated to expressing the unique terroir of the region, bringing together history, sustainability, and the finest Tuscan traditions.

About the Wines

Tenuta di Montefoscoli’s wines celebrate the complexity of the Pisan hills. Notable offerings include Fontemaggiore, a Vermentino Costa Toscana IGT; Vacevoli, a blend of Vermentino, Viognier, and Petit Manseng; and Santandrea, a Sangiovese Costa Toscana IGT. Each wine is crafted with organic principles, emphasizing the distinctive qualities of each vineyard. Additionally, guests can enjoy a curated selection from other estates within the Castellani family, highlighting the diversity of Tuscan winemaking.

Fantastic!
We had a tour of this beautiful winery and vineyards in June … weather was perfect and our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. The building is very impressive and the local wines and charcuterie were as well. Absolutely would recommend!!!

Enhancing the territory
The Montefoscoli area is already beautiful and being in the territory with the enhancement of the territory itself and its products is an added value. A note of merit for this estate with a particular location, a tobacco curing barn: the tour also extends to a visit of this structure which has memories of the last century, now transformed to produce wine. The visit to the vineyard and the tasting were also good. A particular note of merit for the Vermentino produced in this area. Recommended, and add a visit to the Museum of Rural Life to enhance this splendid territory.
