About Winery and Wines
Tenuta Sovestro covers a total of about 15 hectares, of which about 6,5 hectares of vineyards (mostly of Sangiovese and Vernaccia di San Gimignano vines) and 3 hectares of olive grove with different varieties of olive trees such as: Leccino, Pendolino and Frantoio.
The vines are cultivated with the Guyot system and grassing is practiced in alternate rows, one row is always left grassed and the other is worked, trying to minimize processing.
Tenuta Sovestro is at an average height of 250 meters above sea level in one of the best exposures for vineyards. The soils are fresh and composed mostly of clay and tuff, a typical feature of this area.
Alessia and Barbara are the third generation of the Failli family, which has been the owner of the Hotel Sovestro and the "Da Pode" restaurant in San Gimignano for almost half a century. Their deep knowledge of the territory and the experience gained with the restaurant industry in evaluating the quality of the products have made them have clear ideas about the objectives they want to achieve.
Tenuta Sovestro is a young company that aims to carry on the wine production of San Gimignano with an innovative and sustainable approach, aiming at the production of pleasant and intriguing quality wines, capable of giving emotions with every sip. Wines that do not bore after the first glass and that can be appreciated also by a less experienced public.
