Viarzo
(Winery in Ligurian Riviera, Hills of Savona)
About Winery and Wines
Viarzo Winery is the passion project of Elena Tavella and Giuseppe Parenti, a couple who turned their love for the land into a winemaking journey. Situated in Quiliano, Savona, the winery revives vineyards that have a long history, dating back to the 1700s, when Granaccia was first cultivated in Liguria. Starting with an abandoned vineyard near their home, Elena and Giuseppe restored the land, expanding their work to a second plot in Roviasca. Their dedication is evident in the careful restoration of ancient terraced strips and dry stone walls.
Though the description of the wines is not detailed, Viarzo Winery focuses on restoring and cultivating the historic Granaccia grape variety, which is integral to the region. Their commitment to environmental restoration and traditional viticulture suggests that the wines produced reflect both the character of the Ligurian terroir and the dedication of the winemakers. The wines are likely to embody the unique heritage of the area, offering a taste of the history they aim to preserve.
