About Winery and Wines

The Venetian villas, included in the Unesco World Heritage since 1996, are beautifully represented by the 16th century Villa Raspi. A sober, stately and vigorous architectural complex located in Lancenigo di Villorba, not far from the natural area of “Fontane Bianche” (White Fountains). The villa first belonged to the Venitian bookseller Giovanbattista Sessa, then (from 1662), to the Raspi family from Bergamo and, starting from the second decade of the 19th century, to the Felissent family. The Raspi, skilled tradesmen and investors who joined the Venetian Patriciate following payment of a huge amount of money, bought over the years innumerous estates and properties, not only in Venice, where they had settled, but also on the mainland. Villa Raspi is the best and most significant example of it.

The cube-shaped central body, the pyramidal roof with large chimneys, the remarkable barchesse (porticoed haylofts) – commissioned by the Raspi – reveal the manorial nature of residence. The barchesse, built in the 18th century and characterized by airy round arches, were not only used to store farm tools, but they also hosted the kitchens, guest rooms, servant rooms and, on the upper floor, the barns. Outside the Villa, a public oratory was found that was demolished in the early 20th century. In 1998, Villa Raspi was bought and restored by the company Spazio Srl, which entrusted it with the Agenzia per il Triveneto of the Benetton brand. Today, the villa opens to the general public and revives the ancient splendors.
