The factory is in a spectacular place, the staff is very nice. Our "lecturer", Daria, is experienced, knowledgeable and very warm person, whose stories couldn't leave us indifferent. The wine, especially, Chiave di Saletta 2016 (as per our humble opinion) was found gorgeous.

About Winery and Wines

Villa Saletta has been at the heart of Tuscan life for centuries, with its origins dating back to 980 AD, when the first written records of wine production were made. Over the centuries, the estate has passed through the hands of just four prominent families. In the 1300s, the Gambacorta family consolidated the lands, and later, the Riccardi family, wealthy Florentine bankers connected to the powerful Medici house, transformed Villa Saletta into a flourishing agricultural estate during the 16th and 17th centuries. After being acquired by the Castelli family, Villa Saletta continued to thrive until it fell into disrepair by the late 20th century. However, in 2000, the current owners recognized its potential and embarked on a meticulous restoration to revive its agricultural legacy. Today, Villa Saletta blends traditional Tuscan techniques with modern technology, overseen by winemaker David Landini. This renaissance has allowed the estate to produce a series of internationally recognized wines, combining heritage and innovation.

Villa Saletta’s wine production is centered around an in-depth understanding of its unique terroir, blending traditional practices with modern agronomic techniques. The estate produces a range of exceptional wines, some showcasing classic Tuscan styles, while others evoke the finest Bordeaux crus with an unmistakable Italian twist. In addition to the iconic Tuscan Sangiovese, Villa Saletta grows and vinifies international varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, which thrive in the estate's soil. Signature wines include: 980 AD IGT Rosso Toscana (100% Cabernet Franc), Saletta Giulia IGT Rosso Toscana (Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon), and Chiave di Saletta IGT Rosso Toscana (Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot). Additionally, the estate produces a classic Chianti DOCG and a rosé, alongside a Metodo Classico Spumante made from Sangiovese. Villa Saletta also produces exceptional extra virgin olive oil from a blend of local olive varieties, further reflecting the richness of the estate's land.
