Your tour begins when you meet your local food expert in Piazza Dante. From there, you'll set off on a walking journey through the Decumani and the Pignasecca market in the heart of Naples' UNESCO-listed historic center. As you walk, your guide will explain how the city's history is intertwined with its culinary traditions.
The experience is built around ten tastings at some of Naples' most historic shops and eateries. You will stop for a classic Neapolitan pizza at Pizzeria Gino e Totò Sorbillo, open since 1935, and taste ziti with ragù at Tandem Ragù in the Spaccanapoli district. The tour continues with fried specialties like frittatina at Antica Pizzeria Di Matteo, a fixture since 1936, and a 'cuoppo' of fried fish from Pescheria Azzurra in the Pignasecca market.
You'll also sample local products at decades-old shops. At Cremeria Prete, established in 1965, you'll have provolone del monaco or fior di latte with a glass of Fiano wine. At Bistrot Cicoli e Ricotta, you'll try mozzarella or casatiello with a glass of Gragnano red wine. The tour concludes with a taste of Liquore Strega at its historic store, founded in 1860, and a choice of gelato from the 1894 chocolatier Gay-Odin or a babà from Pasticceria Capparelli.
