From the moment you arrive in the atmospheric Old Bazaar of Gjirokastra, in the heart of southern Albania, you’ll step into a hands-on cooking class that brings the region’s culinary heritage to life. Guided by a passionate local cook, you’ll prepare two beloved Gjirokastrian dishes—herb-infused qifqi and hand-rolled pasta served with slow-cooked lamb—along with a seasonal Albanian dessert such as fruit compote with local honey or classic sheqerpare. As you cook, you’ll work with fresh, locally sourced herbs and spices while learning the origins, stories, and traditions that have shaped food culture in Gjirokastra for generations.
After the workshop, you’ll sit down in a cozy historic setting within the Old Bazaar to enjoy a shared meal featuring everything you’ve prepared, paired with a glass of local wine or raki. The combination of Ottoman-era architecture, cobblestone alleys, and the warm hospitality of southern Albania creates a memorable backdrop as you savor authentic regional flavors and connect with fellow travelers.

Where we are and how to reach us
Visit Gjirokastra DMC, Alqi Kondi, C-Adventure, Gjirokastër 6001, Albania: Go to Çerçiz Topulli Square in Gjirokastra’s Old Town. Walk uphill through the arched entrance of the Old Bazaar and continue straight along the main cobblestone street lined with stone houses and artisan shops. The meeting point is on this central pedestrian lane in the heart of the bazaar.
