Highly Recommend!
Wish we had more space in our bags to buy more bottles of wine to bring home .We will definitely recommend, thanks so much.
There is a website for Tuscany area, i suggest that they add a link to Winediring on their site. It is much easier to plan a trip when you have valuable information in one place.

Über das Weingut und die Weine
Castello La Leccia
The first historical traces of the Castello La Leccia date back to 1077.
During the 15th century, one of the most ancient Florentine Families, the Ricasoli, dominated the castle. It had also been the bulwark in the continuous wars between Florence and Siena.
In the 18th century, the castle had been partially renovated into a manor house, leaving the remaining hamlet a comfortable place where about 70 people lived.
The Castello La Leccia is an organic farm. We care for these lands and truly love these places; it is with great passion we have restored light and life to this house. We are not an Hotel but a family. Our idea is to greet you and share our intense love for this Tuscan location.
Our Wines
A good vintner must favour the natural balance of the ecosystem. With this strong belief we sustain the development of life in the ground.
Our vineyards are positioned in five different spots surrounding the Castle, at altitudes that vary from 300 to 500 meters above sea level. With a southern and south western exposure, the vines plunge their roots in clayey soils rich in limestone.
Due to these diversities our Sangiovese has a considerable ductility and unleashes therefore complex and structured qualities as well as
sweetness and elegance. We also cultivate small quantities of Malvasia Nera, Syrah and Ciliegiolo.
The grapes of each vineyard are harvested and processed separately. Our Chianti Classico always reflects our philosophy of producing a wine that is always connected to our land.
The Bruciagna vineyard offers us a Sangiovese that, compared to the other vines, expresses its potentialities consistently whatever the vintage. For this reason, it produces our “Gran Selezione” wine, after a minimum of three years refinement in wood and cement.
Our IGT wine "Vivaio del Cavaliere" comes from the grapes of our younger Sangiovese vineyards, blended with Malvasia Nera, Syrah and Ciliegiolo.
We also produce a white IGT based on Incrocio Manzoni.
Our Olive Oil
We produce also Extra Virgin Olive Oil exclusively from our own organically grown olives.
Our olives, all from the olive groves surrounding our castle, are harvested from plants about 15 years of age, all originating from traditional Tuscan varieties, such as Leccino, Correggiolo and Moraiolo. The Leccia terroir is very favourable to olive growing, having mineral rich soils, in which the olive tree can sink its roots without difficulty
