Here is what's in store for you
Discover the wonders of one of Italy's hidden gems: La Serra and its stunning lakes! Embark on a journey along the Via Francigena, heading toward Montalto Dora, where you’ll be captivated by the legends of Lago Nero (Black Lake). Admire the reconstructed pile-dwelling village of Lago Pistorio, dating back to the Neolithic period, and take in the serene beauty of the Terre Danzanti.
Meeting point at Porta Susa station at 8:00 am to take the 8:30 am train to Ivrea. Upon arrival at Ivrea station (9:22 am), we will begin exploring the city. Ancient Eporedia will surprise us with its Roman remains and the open-air museum dedicated to Adriano Olivetti, a visionary industrialist and enlightened figure.
We will visit the historic center, the castle with its red towers, and the sites linked to the famous Carnival. From there, we’ll cycle along the Dora River, enjoying views of neo-liberty style buildings. There will be an opportunity to stop and taste the traditional “Torta 900,” a local specialty.
Following a secondary road through meadows and woods, we’ll arrive at Lake Candia, where you’ll have free time for lunch. We’ll ride along the lake’s shores, admiring its flora and birds in one of the most important wetlands in Piedmont, now a Natural Park.
A short detour will take us to the giant bench, where we can enjoy stunning views of the lake and the Serra.
The final stop of our tour will be in Caluso, where the Regional Wine Cellar awaits us for a wine tasting and a stroll around the town.
The return train departs at 7:19 pm on Sundays and at 6:19 pm on Saturdays.
