Pantelleria is a truly special island. The black volcanic cone lost in the sea between Sicily and Africa is the expression of an intense, identifying character, even in the simplest agricultural products. ​ There are celebrants who, even though they don't know they are, are the embodiment of the soul of the island. ​ One of these is Battista Belvisi, farmer, winemaker, cellarman and oenologist. in 2015 created what was then a very small reality called Abbazia San Giorgio, whose vineyards, three and a half hectares located in Khamma are located in the south-eastern part of the island.

Abbazia San Giorgio is committed to natural wines: organic management with the use of biodynamic techniques. The fight against weeds and parasites is carried out with agronomic means, without pesticides, cryptogamics or any other type of chemical product. No fertilizations of any kind are carried out, not with chemical or even organic fertilizers. At the end of winter the wild herbs are buried. In the cellar, fermentation starts on its own thanks to indigenous yeasts. No additives of any kind are used during the transformation steps, not even sulfur dioxide. No added sulfites
