Podere San Michele
Sobre la bodega y los vinos
In the splendid setting of the Upper Tuscan Maremma, Podere San Michele, nestled among vineyards and olive groves that stretch across the plain between the ancient Via Aurelia and the sparkling sea of San Vincenzo, tells a story spanning over seventy years, one of dedication to the land, respect for tradition and love for the fruits it gives us. Founded after the Second World War as a small family business, today the company is run by the third generation, who proudly carry on the values and methods handed down over time.
Our products are the result of a balance between nature, experience and artisan care.
Our winery is much more than just a building: it is the beating heart where the magic of transformation takes place. Here, the fruit of a year's work in the vineyard evolves and transforms, following a meticulous process that enhances its character and quality.
The ageing of wine in oak barrels is not a simple step, but a thousand-year-old art that aims to enhance the character of the wine, giving it complexity and structure. Oak wood acts synergistically with wine, influencing its colour, aromas and taste. It is a process that requires patience, care and a deep understanding of the chemical interactions that take place between the wine and the barrel.
At Podere San Michele, we cultivate with care and respect the grape varieties that represent the essence of our production: Syrah and Sangiovese, Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon. All vines are grown using a grafting system on selected rootstock, a technique that combines the resistance of the rootstock with the superior quality of the noble varieties, improving the health of the vine, the yield and the longevity of the vineyard.
