Beautiful view. Not so good service. Wines...

Beautiful view. Not so good service. Wines ok. Made my 90 year old mom uncomfortable at the bar tasting area. There was two groups there of about six people each . I ask if there was anyway we could taste at a table cause my mom can't stand long. The host said no because it was crowded. OK I understood. We had to wait until the groups got finished because the host couldn't seem to handle us and the other 6 people. It started raining really hard and the groups sat down away from the tasting area, then left. No one else came in. When the host finally started our tasting it took her 10 to 15 minutes between each glass to let us taste the next one. We clearly didn't have her full attention and she clearly was preoccupied. Being the only ones tasting at the time, having to pay for the tastings, not getting a tasting glass with the wine, and only sub standard tasting wine, I feel her action was unexceptable. Won't go back. But beautiful view. Took some beautiful pictures. PS THE closest winery to DC is Urban Winery in Silver Spring, MD. Wonderful service!!!!

Nice winery. The wines were goods and there was some variety. The person in the tasting room was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. The setting is lovely and there is a lot of seating inside or on the porch or even on the lawn. They were very willing to let people explore the grounds. All around a great experience.

An OK winery. Standing at a half...

An OK winery. Standing at a half full tasting bar and seeing 4-5 of the workers walk by, it took at least 5 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us and the people that walk in a couple minutes after us. After 10-15 minutes of standing at the bar, we finally started our tasting with a not very personable guy (a tasting room manager, none the less). We went through the list, no discussion of the wines. The Cab Franc and Rkatsiteli were good. The rest were ok. According to our pourer, their flagship wine is their sweet apple wine. I think a winery's flagship wine says a lot about the winery; so take that as you will per your tastes. After the tasting and another 5 minutes, he finally got around to asking us if we needed anything else and ordering/paying. I did overhear the pourer next to us talking with the customers and she sounded awesome. If we'd have had her, our experience would probably have been a lot different. They do get some bonus points for selling good bread and cheese. They also had soup, which we did not try, but I appreciate it when a winery offers it. Overall, an OK visit to a winery with OK wine. Of the 81 Virginia wineries I have been to, I probably won't be back to this one, though.
