Wine Tasting with the Winemaker at Anzivino in Gattinara, near Lake Maggiore
Here is what's in store for you
You'll be welcomed to the Anzivino winery in Gattinara, northern Piedmont, by a member of the family. Either Andrea or Emanuele will personally lead your tasting, sharing the story behind the wines they produce.
The experience takes place in a unique setting: a historic distillery from 1862, restored by Emanuele in 1998. You will taste among the large oak casks where the wines age, learning about Nebbiolo, the region's most characteristic grape.
Your tasting includes five red wines. The selection always features 'Cesare', a Gattinara Riserva DOCG produced only in the best vintages and aged for five years in a dedicated cask. The other four wines vary based on availability but may include Gattinara DOCG, Gattinara Riserva DOCG, Bramaterra DOC, Bramaterra Riserva DOC, or 'Continuo', the winery's amphora-aged red.
If you choose the option with food, your tasting will be paired with a board of local products. This typically includes two cured meats, such as Salam d’la duja, and two cheeses like Toma della Valsesia, served with breadsticks.
