Here is what's in store for you

Discover the ancient rite of olive oil extraction with a guided tour and tasting at Frantoio del Sero, a traditional stone oil mill in the heart of Umbria!

Giano dell'Umbria is a charming medieval village located in the "green heart" of Italy, overlooking a beautiful silver landscape of olive trees. This territory has a perfect ecological balance where people have always lived harmoniously with nature. The extraction of olive oil is an ancient rite full of symbolism, which repeats every year in the magic of history, culture, tradition, and folklore. After the visit, we are also happy to accompany our guests to beautiful nearby sites worth visiting (ie, Morcicchia Castle, San Felice Abbey, centuries-old Macciano olive tree).

The Del Sero family lives in Moriano, a couple of km from Giano, and it has been growing olive trees and producing extra virgin olive oil for generations. The Del Sero olive oil is extracted with the traditional method of first cold pressing, with granite millstones and hydraulic presses, in a recently-built plant that blends well with the surrounding landscape. A protected pathway will allow you to oversee all stages of the production process, and, after the tour, our large hall can easily accommodate your group for a tasting experience immersed in a warm atmosphere. You'll also be able to admire over 2,000 square meters of green areas dotted with ancient olive trees. Get ready for an emotional experience, discovering the World of Olive Oil, learning about its history and culture, and appreciating its beneficial effects on health and taste!

Our proposal includes a guided tour of the Oil Mill, during which our guide will tell you about:
- How olive oil is born: detailed description of all stages of the production process, from the fruit to the oil, using the traditional method of first cold pressing (granite millstones and hydraulic presses).
- Comparison with other extraction methods;
- How a very high-quality olive oil is born: description of methods adopted in the various stages of the production and storage process, which directly affect the quality of olive oil;
- Q&A

At the end of the tour, it will be time for the tasting experience. You can choose between two options:
- BASIC TASTING: Two types of bruschettas prepared on the spot with wood-fired bread: Classic (olive oil and salt) and Garlic (olive oil, salt, garlic) accompanied by a glass of red wine and water.
- PREMIUM TASTING: Mix of bruschettas prepared on the spot with wood-fired bread: Classic (olive oil and salt) and Garlic (olive oil, salt, garlic); Sauces & and local specialties + Charcuterie and cheese board (with delicacies like salami, capocollo, prosciutto, local pecorino cheese) accompanied by a glass of red wine and water.
