'His Majesty Pinot Noir' Wine Experience at La Travaglina in the Heart of Oltrepò
Here is what's in store for you
At La Travaglina, the goal is to offer guests a pleasant and relaxing couple of hours, leaving with a smile and a memorable taste of the winery’s world.
If the weather allows, the experience begins with a walk to enjoy the panoramic views and vineyards surrounding the farmhouse (comfortable shoes are recommended, as elegant shoes or heels are not ideal). Guests may then continue with a guided tour of the cellar, following the journey of the grapes as they become wine, including a visit to the underground cellar where some wines rest and age in wooden barrels. Along the way, the team will share the secrets of this fascinating process, which brings new nuances and emotions every year.
The experience concludes with a guided tasting of four different expressions of Pinot Noir, a variety introduced to Oltrepò Pavese almost two centuries ago and now considered the region’s most prestigious grape. The tasting includes: two Classic Method sparkling wines, including a rosé aged for more than 10 years on the lees; two red Pinot Noir wines, one aged only in stainless steel and the other a Pinot Nero Riserva, aged in wood and then in bottle.
The wines are paired with four selections of local cured meats and cheeses, accompanied by slices of Miccone di Stradella, the traditional bread of the area.
Where we are and how to reach us
We suggest passing through the village of Santa Giuletta and then climbing up to Frazione Castello to avoid the bumpy roads often indicated by common navigation systems.
