Vineyard Tour and Wine Tasting with Local Foods at Cantina Lapone in Orvieto

Your experience at Cantina Lapone begins with a welcome from Piero, the owner, who will personally guide you through his estate. He and his staff will introduce you to the winemaking heritage of the Orvieto area.
The tour starts with a walk among the vines, where you can feel the soil and, depending on the season, taste the grapes directly from the plant. From the vineyard, you'll move to the small cellar to learn about the vinification process for the winery's white and red wines.
The final part of your visit takes place in the tasting room. Here, you will taste four wines that express the local terroir: Caiano, a 100% Chardonnay; Me, a 100% Verdicchio (or Ramato, a 100% Pinot Grigio, based on availability); L’Escluso, an Orvieto Classico Superiore DOC; and L’Incluso, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The tasting is accompanied by a board of Umbrian products, including home-cured prosciutto crudo and local pecorino or caciotta cheese.
