Azienda Vitivinicola Pietro Cassina
(Cantina in Biella)
(Cantina in Biella)
Le Pianelle is the name of our vineyard in Italy’s northern Piedmont. The foundation was laid when we, Dieter Heuskel and Peter Dipoli, bought the first parcel of land, an abandoned vineyard in Alto Piemonte, in December 2004. Over the years, we were able to acquire more such parcels, now numbering over 50. In 2007/2008, two vineyards were replanted to cover a total of nearly 10 acres.
Our grape of choice is Nebbiolo, in addition to two local varieties, Croatina and Vespolina. Just weeks before our first harvest in 2010, we were able to acquire an old house in the historic center of Brusnengo and prepare the cellar for our first yield. It is here that we make our wines: a rosato, Al Posto dei Fiori, and a red Bramaterra.
With Le Pianelle, our dream has become reality.
Piedmont, located in the northwest of Italy, has its capital in Turin and is home to some of the world’s most prestigious grapes and wines. While in recent times, the best known have come from the southern part of the region, the historic center was located much further north, nestled at the foot of the Alps. Some 100 years ago, nearly 100,000 acres of vineyards stretched between the mountains and the Po Valley. Lessona and Gattinara were the names of world-renowned wines made from Nebbiolo grapes, cousins to their relatives Barolo and Barbaresco in the south. Today, only around 2,500 acres of land remain in production —too attractive were the region’s jobs in the automobile and textiles industries, and too small the vineyards after generations of dividing the land. Today, we are witnessing the renaissance of winemaking in the unique terroir of Alto Piemonte. .
Simona Diana
(Cantina in Biella)
Our winery is settled in a fantastic natural terraced amphitheater, not so far from the main roads but at the same time completely immersed in nature. Our vineyard lies back to the winery, it's very ancient and it's present till the Napoleon times. The vines are growing on the dry walls, in a special microclimate so soon they will gain the bio certificate but overall our souls are vocated to preserve the biodiversity so great in our place. Ca'Riunci has 3 retro-style bedrooms, which bear the names of the flowers that surround the home. On the ground floor, there is also a sitting room and a dining room where we serve breakfast and where we organize lunches, snacks, dinners, and tastings of our wine with typical local products.
Outside you will animal friends and the cellar to welcome you, all in a context of extreme relaxation. In fact, for lovers of country life and for those looking for a time that passes as slowly as it once was, Ca'Riunci is the ideal solution! And, for those who wish, we can also organize excursions on foot, by bike, or on horseback in the surrounding area.
To be discovered near us, in addition to the historic center of Biella, you will also find Lake Viverone, the Bose Monastery, the Ricetto di Candelo, the Baraggia nature reserve, the Oropa Sanctuary, the Zegna Oasis, the Parco della Burcina, an hour away, also Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta.
It's time to listen to your passions: Ca' Riunci is waiting for you.
Centovigne - Castello di Castellengo
(Cantina in Biella)
Castellengo Castle, located in the Biella pre-Alps below Monte Rosa, has for centuries been home to the production of fine wines that are born in the surrounding vineyards on ancient land of marine glacial origin, where Nebbiolo and Erbaluce have always been mainly cultivated.
Magda and Alessandro Ciccioni reinterpret this tradition on a daily basis through the almost archaeological recovery of the ancient vineyards, reconstituting the historic property today called Centovigne because it is made up of small vineyards distributed on the hills between Castellengo Castle and Mottalciata, in Alto Piemonte.
The eighteenth-century cellars enhance the use of concrete tanks and large oak barrels for the refinement of wines, combining new knowledge and tradition in a combination of technology and history.
Our roots go back to 1682, the year in which the document dates back to the list of how many presses, how many barrels and how many vats, were found inside the crote di Castellengo.
On 28 September 1748, the Cabreo was drawn up, a judicial report relating to the feudal assets of Castellengo, where the extent of the vineyards and the cultivation systems used were determined.
In 1888 the summary prospectus of the Sella company in Castellengo then appears with the income and expenses relating to the sale of Castellengo.
It is possible to visit the cellar and have a wine tasting, with advance booking.
