Agusti Torelló Mata was born into a dynasty of tailors and musicians, but went into the world of cava at a very young age, a world that turned into his profession and his passion. Pioneering, passionate and tireless, he created in 1953 the first wine analysis laboratory in the industry, managed important wineries in the Penedès region and set up his own cava winery in 1959. Due to his enthusiasm and vision of the viticulture industry, he soon became a reference point in the internationalization of cava. It is in this spirit that he fostered the creation of the Cava Guild, which acknowledged his work by appointing him President of Honour some years ago. 1979. in the cellar Can Rossell was born KIPTA. After 32 years of experience Agustí Torelló Mata decides to carry out his dream. KRIPTA comes from the best old vineyards of Penedès, an exceptional coupaje of the best plots of Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada. A long ageing process using cork caps that lasts a minimum of 5 years , get a unique bouquet that consolidates Kripta as one of the great wines of the world. Bottle, -reminiscent of Roman amphora-, and the label -artist Rafael Bartolozzi- are the final elegant touches of this great cava.

Our vineyards are located in the historic Cava area south of Barcelona, in the area called VALLS D’ANOIA-FOIX, which is delimited between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of Montserrat. The particular area geology and the sea influence determine a diversity of soils with important lithological characteristics that shape three different wine-growing areas for our base wines.

This exceptional diversity allows us to produce wines of great singularity, with a peculiar identity typical of each area. We select the best plots to obtain the maximum expression, quality and personality of each variety.

We remain faithful to the traditional autochthonous grape varieties, unique in the world: Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada for the white and Trepat for the rosé.
