Degustando il piceno

Sabato mattina libero, decido di visitare una delle più blasonate realtà della provincia di Ascoli Piceno. Prenoto una degustazione per le ore 11 e al Wine shop mi accoglie Giulio, giovane responsabile dell'accoglienza del punto vendita, che mi aspetta per assaggiare i vini delle loro diverse gamme. La visita è piacevole, dettagliata e precisa i vini sono ottimi e con un favoloso rapporto qualità prezzo e chi me li spiega si capisce che è preparato ed appassionato. Due ore volano senza accorgermene.
Con il bel tempo si effettuano anche le visite in vigna, peccato avere scelto una giornata uggiosa! Mi sarebbe piaciuto poter visitare anche la cantina di produzione, ma purtroppo il sabato non è possibile !

What a great experience! Amazing wine and snacks, but aside from that the people were great! They were super nice and went the extra mile to give us a great experience and gave us a great deal. I highly recommend.

Wine tasting at Velenosi

My sister and I went to Ascoli Piceno for the last few days of our tour in Italy. It was important for us because our grandparents came from that region in the beginning of the 20th century. Our tour guide Stephane met us at the hotel and drove us to Velenosi winery. The winery is on a slope surrounded be vineyards and an olive grove. You can see the mountains in the distance. Francesco our guide spoke English perfectly and explained to us the environmental factors that contribute to the taste of the wine. We had a lovely white wine called ‘Pecorino’ that goes well with snacks, chicken, fish, cheese. Pecorino has a beautiful light color and kind of sweet. The second wine that we tasted was a red wine, more full bodied called ‘Brecciarolo’. A very smooth wine that pairs well with meat and almost
anything. We had another white wine but I cannot remember the name. Anyway, there were an assortment of cheese, prosciutto and other regional specialities to go with the wine. I brought the Pecorino and the Brecciarolo back to Paris with me. My family loved the wine. Now I have to find more. Stephane took us back to the hotel but no before showing us a local site or two. It was a great experience. Thanks.

La nostra passione è dettata dall’attesa del momento in cui inizia la vendemmia, per veder nascere il vino e scoprirlo arricchirsi di profumi. Gli imprenditori Ercole ed Angela Velenosi hanno coniugato la tradizione artigianale alle tecnologie avanzate, reinterpretando con creatività i processi di vinificazione e dando così vita a un’azienda che ha continuato ad ampliarsi e che oggi porta nel mondo intero i profumi e i colori del territorio piceno attraverso vini dal carattere inimitabile. Dal vino abbiamo appreso la pazienza, l’attesa dei tempi necessari per ottenere sorsi intensi, dal sapore ineguagliabile. Una cura e una ricerca continua che riecheggiano nei riflessi dei calici. È per questo motivo che i vini Velenosi sorprendono il palato con i loro sapori ricchi di autenticità e fantasia, portando la tradizione picena nel mondo e guarnendo ogni portata con il gusto che solo il buon vino può dare.

Crowned by hills stretching towards the sea, our vineyards absorb the most authentic savours of the territory, and return them in the colourful highlights of wines. A clay and fertile soil, and vines rich in fragrances and with a long history, tell the Piceno territory tradition through autochthonous and international varieties. It’s nature poured in a glass.
