Winery Tour & Tasting with Local Pairings at Bodegas Carchelo in Jumilla
Here is what's in store for you
Your experience at Bodegas Carchelo, a family-run winery founded in 1990, begins at the foot of the Sierra del Carche in the Jumilla wine region. The visit starts in the estate's experimental vineyard, where you will learn about the vine's growing cycle with a special focus on Monastrell, Jumilla's signature grape.
The tour continues inside the winery, moving through the areas where the wines are produced, aged, and bottled. A member of the Bodegas Carchelo team will guide you through the production area, barrel room, and bottling line, explaining the winery's approach to winemaking.
The experience concludes in the dedicated tasting area with a guided tasting of five wines. The selection typically includes Carchelo Blanco (Sauvignon Blanc), Carchelo Rosado (Monastrell) or Carchelo Orange (Airén), Altico (Syrah), Guarafía (Garnacha Fina), and Muri Veteres (Monastrell from ungrafted vines). The last three are small-production, single-vineyard wines.
The tasting is accompanied by an individual platter featuring Murcia al Vino PDO cheese, a ten-month-aged Gouda-style cheese, Iberian salchichón, Iberian chorizo, cured pork loin, and breadsticks. Minors will be offered water and some snacks, such as chips.
