Loire Valley Private Day Wine Tour: Chateaus Chenonceau, Amboise, Da Vinci Castle & Caves Ambacia

Here is what's in store for you

Discover the wonders of the Loire Valley with this day wine tour! Visit its famous Chateaus and discover its fine matured wines thanks to a visit to a historical winery.

You'll be picked up at 9:00 AM at the Tours train station or your hotel in Tours to visit the Chateau of Chenonceau, nicknamed “the ladies castle" as prominent French women once resided here, including Catherine de Medici. Besides the castle, you will be able to admire the wonderful Renaissance gardens that surround it.

Next, you will visit Caves Ambacia, a winery established in 1874. Here you will enjoy a guided tour and tasting of 3 wines, led by a specialist in matured Loire Valley vintages. Please note that the tour and wine tasting will only be in English.

Lunch will be at your leisure. After lunch, you will visit the Royal Castle of Amboise, the residence of Charles the 8th and young François d’Angoulème (the future Francois the 1st). Here you will have the opportunity to discover perfect examples of the transition from Gothic to Renaissance styling and visit the Saint Hubert Chapel which shelters the final resting place of Leonardo da Vinci.

This Loire Valley tour would not be complete without a visit to The Genius' Chateau du Clos Lucé, only a few short steps away from the Royal Castle. This is where da Vinci spent the last three years of his life. You will be touring his bedroom, office, reception room, and kitchen, to finally stand in awe at the Invention Room, where models of Leonardo's most spectacular machines are on display.
