Here is what's in store for you

Embark on a gastronomic journey in Funchal, immersing yourself in the rich tapestry of Madeiran flavors at each of the 9 stops, where you'll delight in 11 delectable food tastings and savor 6 exquisite beverage tastings.

Your first stop is at a Madeira Wine Producer. Madeira Island is best known for its fortified wine for over 500 years, which is why this tour needs to start with a Madeira wine tasting. In Madeira no matter what it is always past 5 o’clock! Next stop – a local favorite, a restaurant where you will taste a homemade dish called “Carne de Vinha d ́alhos” (pork marinated with garlic and wine) traditionally served at Christmas time in Madeira. Along with this delicious dish, you will taste the locally produced beer “Coral”, a lager-type beer of a pale golden color, loved by locals. Follow the steps of your guide to discover your 3rd stop – a Madeiran chocolate producer offering delicious treats that combine delicious chocolate with typical local flavors. Continuing with sweets you will move on to our 4th stop: a well-known cookies and sweets factory in Madeira. This factory is an all-time favorite and classic that all Madeirans go to, especially during Christmas time!

After tasting all of these sweets, your 5th stop will be at a restaurant where you will taste Madeiran table wine and crostinis. A typical old Madeiran grocery store is your stop number 6, where you will be able to shop for spices, beans, potatoes... and taste the famous Poncha, a much-loved drink of the locals. There exist many different varieties of this drink, but the most typical one consists of sugar cane rum, lemon and sugar. Locals always say: "In Madeira, if you have a cold, a fever, a broken heart... Poncha is the medicine”. Your 7th stop is the famous Farmer’s Market. Inaugurated in 1940, this building will showcase an abundance of flowers and all the seasonal exotic fruits that grow in Madeira. Take time and contemplate all the beautiful colors and scents... Your 8th stop is a little surprise right inside the market. Smell, touch, taste and challenge your taste buds while discovering local, seasonal, and delicious fruits! On your last stop in the charismatic old town of Funchal, you’ll taste a typical and popular dish amongst the locals, Garlic Tuna accompanied by fried cornmeal and the famous flatbread with garlic & parsley butter. A local soda is offered to accompany this tasting and will not leave you disappointed!
