Spend an unforgettable weekend in the heart of southern Italy, immersing yourself in the centuries-old olive-growing traditions of the Itria Valley. Our Luce d’Olio 3-day experience invites you to discover the charm of Alberobello, staying in beautifully restored traditional trulli that will be exclusively yours during the trip.
Your journey begins with a warm welcome and a dinner in a local masseria, where you’ll enjoy typical Apulian dishes paired with regional wines. Over the next days, you’ll take part in the olive harvest in a family-owned grove, learning first-hand how the prized extra virgin olive oil of Puglia begins its journey. You’ll follow the freshly picked olives to a traditional Apulian mill to witness their transformation into liquid gold, and savour a light farmer’s snack in the open air.
A dedicated workshop will introduce you to the different olive varieties and the techniques used to taste and assess extra virgin olive oil. You’ll also explore the fascinating underground oil mills (frantoi ipogei) that once formed the backbone of the region’s production.
To complete your experience, you’ll receive an olive grower’s kit, which will serve as a perfect reminder of your time spent among the ancient groves and warm hospitality of Puglia.
