Port Wine Heritage Tour & Tasting at Quinta do Beijo
Here is what's in store for you
Discover the rich heritage of Port wine in this exclusive experience at Quinta do Beijo. Designed for Port wine enthusiasts and curious travelers, this tour offers an authentic and immersive journey into Portugal’s most famous fortified wine.
Your experience begins at the grape reception area, where hand-harvested grapes from the Douro Valley are carefully selected and prepared for fermentation. Quinta do Beijo's expert guides will explain the traditional winemaking methods, giving you a deeper understanding of the craftsmanship behind every bottle.
Next, step inside the estate's granite lagares, the century-old stone fermentation tanks where Port wine is still made using the traditional foot-treading method. If you visit during the harvest season (September-October), you may even witness the legendary pisa a pé (foot-treading) in action.
The highlight of the tour takes you underground, into Quinta do Beijo's Port wine caves, where barrels of aging Tawny and White Port wines rest in cool, dimly lit cellars. Here, you will indulge in a technical tasting of two exceptional aged Ports: a 10-Year-Old Tawny Port and a 10-Year-Old White Port, each paired with gourmet selections of chocolates, dried fruits, and jams.
This is more than a tasting — it’s a sensory journey through the past, present, and future of Port wine, offering an intimate look at what makes these wines truly special.
