Premium Half-Day Requena Wine tour from Valencia: Top Wines, Vintage Cava, Olive Oil & Food Pairing
Here is what's in store for you
Pickup Valencia – 08:50 hrs
Come explore the historic old bush vine vineyards of D.O. Utiel-Requena, tasting some of the region’s finest wines with a professional WSET-certified Sommelier who also produces his own Bobal from a small, century-old plot. Learn about Spain’s native grape varieties, organic viticulture, and the art of winemaking through a unique, behind-the-scenes tour. Each experience is different — personal attention and flexibility are our gold standard. Meet the winery owners, taste their top wines, and gain insight into the lesser-known world of Cava.
D.O. Utiel-Requena is the largest, highest (600–900m), and most inland of the Valencian appellations, offering exceptional growing conditions. It’s a rising star among Spain’s wine regions, showcasing native varieties such as Bobal, Merseguera, and rare grapes like Tortosí and Tardana.
The emblematic Bobal variety, once neglected, now produces signature wines with great structure and freshness. The ancient dry-farmed bush vines (en secano) shape a unique landscape — timeless and resilient. The wines here range from dry, herbal rosés and lively Chardonnays to rich, oak-aged whites and bold reds crafted from Tempranillo, Garnacha, Syrah, and, of course, Bobal — either as a single variety or in elegant blends.
During this Requena wine-tasting experience, you’ll visit two exceptional organic-certified wineries and enjoy generous guided tastings of 9–10 premium dry wines and Cavas, accompanied by local D.O.P. cured meats, regional cheeses, and estate-produced extra virgin olive oil. Ask us about our own new artisan wine!
You’re guaranteed to learn something new on our tours. Visit estates with D.O. Pago status, discover viticultural techniques, and explore concepts like hand vs. machine harvesting and the science of terroir — now proven by research from Bordeaux!
Each private winery visit includes access to historic cellars and restored 19th-century houses (ca. 1850–1900), where you’ll learn every stage of winemaking — from grape selection and fermentation to barrel aging, comparing French vs. American oak and understanding their subtle effects on flavor. You’ll descend into the Cava cellars to witness the timeless craft of sparkling wine production, sometimes even catching the disgorgement and corking process in action.
At each winery, you’ll enjoy a personalized tasting of white, red, rosé, and dry or rosé Cava, selected to match your preferences.
To complete your day, we’ll take a short walking tour of La Villa de Requena, exploring the 10th-century castle, Plaza, Moorish caves, and Gothic churches from the era of the Reconquista. You’ll also have the opportunity to shop for local artisan products such as cured sausages, cheeses, and honey (subject to opening times).
Return to Valencia around 14:30–15:00 hrs.
(Note: The Requena town visit can be omitted upon request, with return after the wineries.)
