Here is what's in store for you
There's no doubt that Ribera del Duero is one of Spain’s world renown wine regions. It is located on the country’s northern side, only two hours north of Madrid, along the Duero River. Wine has been produced here for thousands of years, but modern viticulture was brought by French Benedictine monks from Cluny, in Burgundy, during the XII century. Ribera del Duero wines today are becoming more and more famous and internationally known, thanks mostly to the great efforts of experienced growers and wine makers from the area. Obviously we're talking about red wines: The primary grape here is Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and it is used to make a range of mid-level all the way up to ultra-premium wines, that you're going to taste with this special wine tour from Madrid!
The day starts from your hotel where you will meet the local private guide that will bring you to visit 2 wineries in the Ribera del Douero area. As alreday mentioned, the route is 2 hours and during the drive you'll receive the first important information about this wine destination.
Then you'll visit the wineries and each of the 2 visits includes a tour of the facilities with an explanation of how the wine is made there and a obviously tasting is included. Then you will habe a traditional lunch with the most typical dish in Ribera, which is roasted lamb in a wood fired oven, obviosuly paired with the red wine of Ribera. Lunch will be a three course meal with wine and coffee.
After lunch you go back to Madrid!
