The journey begins on the grand terracotta terrace, offering panoramic views of the rolling Maremma hills. The tour then descends into the atmospheric Barricaia, carved into the rock, where up to 2,000 barriques rest in serene darkness.
The exploration continues through the state-of-the-art vat room and the adjacent spaces housing the Etruscan Documentation Center, which showcases artifacts uncovered in the Necropolis of San Germano, located within the estate. The experience concludes with a guided tasting of 4 exquisite Maremma Toscana DOC wines, paired with schiaccina, highlighting the unique terroir and winemaking expertise of Rocca di Frassinello.

Where we are and how to reach us
For those coming from Livorno (North) or Rome - Grosseto (South), the recommended exit of the SS1 Aurelia is Giuncarico. Then, follow the road signs for Rocca di Frassinello for about 6 km.
For those coming from Florence (East), take the Siena - Grosseto (SS223 / E78) exit at Civitella Marittima and continue towards Roccastrada and then Ribolla. From there, for about 8 km, follow the signs for Rocca di Frassinello.

It could be better
The winery is cute, but everything else visibly lacks many thoughtful touches. Making a comparison with other wineries visited in the area, there is no comparison.

The barrel cellar is a treasure to behold, just as the entire winery is enchanting, a work by the very famous Renzo Piano, immersed in a landscape that leaves you speechless...
The wines, very pleasant, were accompanied by a platter of excellent quality local cured meats that we gladly enjoyed along with the classic schiaccina.
It was a "moment" that we will gladly relive during our future stay in Tuscany.
