Vineyard Tour & Tasting with Alentejo Delicacies at Herdade da Maroteira in Redondo
Here is what's in store for you
Your experience begins at the Herdade da Maroteira facility in Redondo, where a guide will welcome you. From there, a 10-minute 4x4 transfer will take you to the estate's farm, the heart of the property managed by the Reynolds family for five generations. This Anglo-Portuguese family turned their focus to winemaking in 2000, planting vineyards on the clay-limestone soils near the Serra d'Ossa.
Your guide will lead you on a walk among the vines, sharing the estate's history and its sustainable farming practices. You'll learn about the native and international grape varieties they grow and how the unique terroir shapes the character of their wines.
After the tour, you'll return to the tasting room for a guided tasting of three estate wines: a white, a rosé, and an organic red. Depending on the season, you might sample labels like the Dez Tostões red blend, the Senhor Doutor from Touriga Nacional, or the Syrah-based Cem Reis. The tasting is paired with a selection of Alentejo specialties, including acorn-fed Black Iberian ham, artisanal sheep's cheese, locally grown olives, and freshly baked bread.
