An extraordinary wine tasting experience awaits you in Weingut Iselin's "Altes Rathaus" on the marketplace in the old walled city of Gernsbach.

The "Altes Rathaus", or Old Town Hall, completed in 1618, is a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture. It features a magnificent cross-vaulted wine cellar where you will have the opportunity to experience wine culture, the art of making wine, and the joy of wine tasting.

Alfred Rainer Iselin - owner and oenologist - will create cherished memories as he guides you through the historical buildings and the wine cellar, a tour culminating in a very special wine tasting experience. You can choose to enjoy a tasting of either 5 or 7 wines, and you can also choose to pair the wines with a selection of cheeses or, alternatively, a typical "winzervesper" board that includes Black Forest ham, landjäger, homemade liverwurst, cheese, fresh bread as well as pickles, butter, and mustard.

We had the most enjoyable time sitting down with our host as he shared his knowledge, wisdoms, passions, and many laughs while enjoying the best wine! Each glass was a wonderful journey in taste, history, and memories!

Seven wines, a thousand stories: a tasting to remember

We had a wonderful wine tasting experience. We tried seven fantastic organic wines, paired with local cheeses and cured meats. We spent a long, fascinating time chatting with Rainer, who introduced us to his wines and shared his personal story. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting, set in a beautiful historic building and surrounded by an art exhibition that made the space even more special. Sara, his wife, was also incredibly kind and welcoming. It was an amazing experience — one we’d happily repeat without a doubt.
