Wine Tasting with Local Platter at Cantina Gentili in Caprino Veronese
Here is what's in store for you
Your experience at Cantina Gentili begins in the hills of Caprino Veronese, at the foot of Monte Baldo. You'll be welcomed by Emanuela, who looks after visitors, or sometimes by the owners Enrico and Elisa Gentili themselves, who have run the family winery since 1978.
A member of the team will first guide you to the underground cellar for a short visit, showing you the terracotta amphorae the estate uses for aging its wine. After the tour, you'll take a seat for the tasting, either at the outdoor tables under the courtyard canopy or inside the shop.
You will taste four wines, served in sequence.
The tasting starts with Trebianèl, a sparkling white rested on its lees for added texture.
Next is a Chiaretto, the estate's pale Bardolino rosé from Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes.
You'll then try a white from Souvignier Gris, a disease-resistant PIWI grape that reflects the winery's sustainable approach.
The tasting concludes with a Bardolino Classico DOC, a light and food-friendly red from the classic Corvina-led blend.
The wines are paired with a platter featuring the estate's own bread, breadsticks, and olive oil. It also includes local cheeses like Caciotta del Monte Baldo and Primo Sale from Caseificio Le Giare, millefiori honey from Agrifavo, and two jams: cherry-and-kiwi from Il Platano and pear from Villa Matteo.
After the tasting, you can take a self-guided 40-minute walk along a marked path through the vineyards, weather permitting.
