Le Strie Winery awaits you in the heart of Valtellina for a tasting of its fine red wines.
The experience begins with a short visit to Le Strie winery, where the owners will tell you how they produce their wines and how they work.
You will then head to the old "jails" of the village, used as the winery's tasting point. The wine tasting will take place in a very informal way: the winemakers will describe the main characteristics of their products: Alpi Retiche Nebbiolo IGT, Rosso di Valtellina DOC, Valtellina Superiore DOCG, and Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG. They are all red wines made from Nebbiolo grapes, very traditional in cut, territorial, straightforward, and direct: Le Strie is, in fact, a small direct-grower company and they personally take care of all aspects; the cultivation of the vineyards, the cellar, the promotion, and the sale.
The four wines will be paired with a small selection of local cheeses and cured meats purchased from producers that the owners know personally.

Beware of following GPS directions: arrive at Ponte in Valtellina, Piazza Della Vittoria, and from there point to the final destination, Ponte in Valtellina, Piazza Libero Della Briotta. In this way, you will avoid passing through a very narrow alley: about 1.5 meters wide.

Cantina molto piccola, dove comunque traspare il lavoro artigianale e la passione dei proprietari. Molto scenografica la zona dove abbiamo fatto la vera e propria degustazione. Paolo molto competente e disponibile.
Arriva un pochino prima per trovare parcheggio e la cantina.

Accoglienza ottima, spiegazioni chiare e una degustazione davvero interessante. Pur essendo una piccola realtà gestita da produttori non locali, la loro grande esperienza in agraria ed enologia si percepisce nei vini, soprattutto hanno sfruttato la versatilità del Nebbiolo. Lo Sforzato ci ha colpite in particolare: ottenuto da uve appassite, è strutturato, equilibrato e perfetto per piatti importanti. Una cantina piccola ma di grande qualità.
