Tasting of 3 Organic Wines & Food Pairing at Podere Orto in Trevinano
Here is what's in store for you
Your visit takes place at Podere Orto, a small family-run wine estate set 650 meters above sea level where Lazio, Umbria, and Tuscany meet. Near the Monte Rufeno Natural Reserve, the Salesi family will welcome you and guide you through their certified organic and biodynamic vineyard.
You will then visit the cellar to learn about Podere Orto's winemaking approach, which focuses exclusively on native grape varieties. The tour concludes with a seated tasting of three representative wines from the estate. As each vintage is different, the selection varies, but may include whites based on Procanico or pure Moscato Bianco, a light red blending Procanico and Sangiovese, or a red made from Sangiovese, Grechetto Rosso, and Ciliegiolo.
The tasting is paired with a selection of products from the surrounding area. The wines are accompanied by homemade bread and spreads, raw-milk cheeses, and artisanal cured meats. Depending on availability, the selection may feature goat, buffalo, and pecorino cheeses, alongside capocollo, prosciutto, lardo, or lonzino from local breeds like Cinta Senese.
The setting changes with the seasons. In winter, the tasting is held indoors in the main hall of the country house. During warmer months, the experience moves to the outdoor patio, surrounded by the countryside.
