About Winery and Wines

To the happy intuition that a good wine is "poetry" and it takes "art" to make it, the winery Al-Cantàra was created. Although young, the winery has established itself both in Italy and abroad thanks to the high quality of its wines, also recognized by some important awards, such as a Bronze Medal at Vinitaly and a Silver Medal at Decanter, as well as a sophisticated and modern packaging which aims at exalting the Sicilian territory, traditions and culture. The winery takes its name from the river which, on the slopes of Etna, laps the Feudo S. Anastasia district in Randazzo, where the lands and the winery are located. The name "Al-Cantàra", which in Arabic means "bridge", wants not only to emphasize the connection with the Sicilian land, but also to be a symbol of union between wine, art and poetry. It is not by chance that all the names of the wines are inspired to poems by Sicilian authors such as Nino Martoglio, Micio Tempio, Giovanni Meli, Salvatore Di Pietro and Alfio Antico.

The winery, of about 20 hectares (12 acres), produces ETNA DOC and Sicilia IGP wines made only with the grapes harvested in its lands, privileging the autochthonous vines (Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante), but not neglecting research and experimentation (Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon). Etna's volcanic soil, rich in minerals, gives these wines absolutely unique flavors and aromas.
