Azienda Agricola Casa Garello

Winery in Oltrepò Pavese

About the Winery

Casa Garello Winery is nestled in the picturesque hills near the spa town of Salice Terme. This winery, steeped in a three-century-old family tradition, continues to produce high-quality wines that reflect its deep connection to the land. Passed down through three generations, the legacy began with grandfather Carlo, whose love for the land and agricultural wisdom remains an inspiration to this day. Carlo was known not only for his passion for winemaking but also for his philanthropic spirit, deeply committed to preserving the region’s rich agricultural heritage.

Today, Casa Garello stays true to these ancient traditions, creating wines that honor the past while embracing modern techniques, ensuring that the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese region is reflected in every bottle.

About the Wines

Azienda Agricola Casa Garello, located in the renowned Oltrepò Pavese wine region, produces a variety of high-quality wines that reflect the character of the local terroir. Here are three wines that the estate produces:

- Bosco delle Gazze Pinot Nero Provincia di Pavia IGT: This Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) is an elegant red wine, known for its delicate aromas of red fruits, cherries, and subtle spices. The wine is well-structured with balanced acidity, reflecting the cool climate of Oltrepò Pavese, ideal for Pinot Noir cultivation.

- Barbera Provincia di Pavia IGT: Made from Barbera grapes, this wine offers rich flavors of ripe red berries, plums, and a touch of spice. It is a vibrant, full-bodied red wine with notable acidity, making it versatile for pairing with a wide range of dishes.

- Sabbione Rosso Affinato in Rovere Provincia di Pavia IGT: Aged in oak barrels, this red blend showcases a deeper complexity with notes of dark fruit, vanilla, and oak. The time spent in oak adds smooth tannins and a rich finish, making it a wine with both structure and elegance.

These wines embody the winemaking tradition of Oltrepò Pavese, where both indigenous and international grape varieties thrive.

A really great experience!
A really great experience!
Excellent rock-hewn location.
The owner combines professionalism with friendliness, which never hurts.
The food is genuine and abundant.
The four glasses of wine presented and served pair well with the courses (except in my opinion the last one, a white with natural bubbles that we struggled to finish with the dessert).
The cellar tour is very brief and unfortunately does not include a visit to the vineyard as well.
There was a small misunderstanding about the surcharge we were supposed to pay for a small child's meal (pasta with butter and cooked ham), but the owner proved to be very understanding and generous, offering the meal for free: something very rare nowadays.
Overall, I feel I can highly recommend this experience and the agriturismo itself for the excellent quality-price ratio and the friendliness of the staff.

A quiet tasting
A quality tasting with friendly and helpful staff. The only unpleasant thing: seeing how overpriced it is on Winedering. When you get there, you see people paying much less than what we paid by booking on the platform.

Great wines, wonderful owner.
We tasted 4 wines of different complexity and characteristics. In addition to what they offered, we also ordered a first and a second course to share. A special mention for the mushroom lasagna: simply sensational. We will definitely be back.

Great experience!
We went for a wine tasting with a pre-lunch aperitif, and we had a really great time! The quality of the wines is excellent, the glasses were generously filled and everything was accompanied by a mixed platter and other really good hot and cold appetizers
(a savory tart, polenta with salamino, etc.).
In addition, the agriturismo offers the option, for those who want, to order a first and/or a second course, which completed the culinary experience.
The most interesting part was then inside the facility where the wine is produced: the owner, super friendly and helpful throughout the day, told us about and showed us the various preparation steps, also sharing very interesting fun facts. A truly complete experience!

A wonderful experience!
Something you absolutely must do once in your life! The owner is such a passionate and kind person that he will manage to pass on a bit of his passion to you, both with the tasting of his wines and appetizers, and with the story of every procedure he follows to make his wine in the cellar.
