About Winery and Wines
Cantina Monte Zovo, located in Caprino Veronese, near Lake Garda and the foot of Monte Zovo, has been passionately managed by the Cottini family from the very start. With a deep commitment to preserving biodiversity and enhancing the identity of the land, the family has made environmental stewardship a core value. In 2013, Monte Zovo became the first winery in the world to receive the Biodiversity Friend certification, a testament to their dedication to sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation. The winery itself, renovated in 1995, is a model of ecological winemaking practices and a welcoming destination for visitors to explore wine culture, the local landscape, and biodiversity.
Monte Zovo’s efforts have not gone unnoticed: in 2020, the winery was honored with an award for 'Sustainable Policies in Wine Tourism' at the Best of Wine Tourism International Competition. This recognition highlights the family’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment and promote the region's natural beauty.
Monte Zovo boasts 140 hectares of vineyards spread across three of Verona’s key denominations: Valpolicella, Garda, and Lugana. The vineyards, carefully selected by Diego Cottini, are remarkable for their altitude, many sitting between 550 and 950 meters above sea level, offering unique expressions of the terroir. This elevated positioning allows Monte Zovo to produce wines that fully respect local traditions while embracing constant research and innovation.
Monte Zovo's wines reflect a perfect balance of tradition, dating back to 1925, and a forward-thinking approach to winemaking. Whether from the high-altitude vineyards of Valpolicella, the scenic shores of Lake Garda, or the esteemed soils of Lugana, each bottle carries with it the story of the land, the family, and their deep respect for nature.
