About Winery and Wines

The underground part is in reinforced concrete to counter ground pressure effectively - the ceilings become grassy slopes that recreate the original conformation of the site. The part above ground will have lighter steel load-bearing structures and the entire building will be covered in local stone with weathering steel inserts. The choices made for the building and the equipment will guarantee performances using the lowest consumption of energy resources possible, so much so that the entire construction is A-rated. The surrounding area tries once more to mitigate the insertion of the building and connecting paths by using sustainable materials for roads and courtyards such as natural stone, stabilised soil blocks or ecological asphalt and by planting olive trees, oaks and local shrubs.

The heart and soul of Azienda Agricola Vallepicciola is found in the ancient lands of Chianti Classico, characterised by a mild microclimate and the unrivalled charm of Castelnuovo Berardenga (Siena). The Azienda Agricola covers 265 hectares, of which 107under vines planted with the traditional Sangiovese, destined mainly to the production of Chianti Classico, as well as with international varieties to make Igt Tuscan wines such as Pinot Nero, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. All varieties have been selected very carefully according to the composition of the soil and the area, which is characterised by a mixture of clay, calcareous marl, blue marl, tuff, sandstone and sand. This is what is unique about our area - the great variability of soil, leading to the production of many types of grapes.
