Bellavista
About the Winery
Bellavista is one of the leading wineries in Franciacorta, founded in the 1970s by Vittorio Moretti with the vision of transforming this territory into a benchmark for Italian sparkling wines. Located on a hill at the center of the morainic amphitheater of Franciacorta, the estate takes its name from the “beautiful view” that stretches across vineyards, rolling hills, and the surrounding landscape shaped by ancient glaciers.
The identity of Bellavista is deeply rooted in the concept of harmony between man and nature. The estate represents a complex ecosystem where the memory of the land, the uniqueness of each vineyard plot, and the human vision come together to create wines of character. The vineyards benefit from a diverse range of soils—rich in minerals, sand, and stones—allowing for a nuanced expression of terroir across different plots.
Bellavista’s philosophy is guided by continuous evolution and careful observation. The team works to anticipate environmental changes and adapt vineyard practices to ensure resilience and consistent quality. The estate is also a place where culture, art, and landscape converge, creating an immersive experience that reflects the spirit of Franciacorta.
A key feature of the winery is its extensive underground cellar system, with over two kilometers of tunnels carved into the hillside. These naturally regulated spaces provide ideal conditions for aging wines, preserving their integrity without artificial climate control. Today, Bellavista is part of the Terra Moretti Group, which combines excellence in winemaking, hospitality, and architecture, while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability and territorial identity.
About the Wines
Bellavista specializes in producing high-quality Franciacorta DOCG sparkling wines, crafted using the traditional method with a strong focus on precision, elegance, and identity.
The winemaking process begins in the vineyard, where careful selection of grapes and meticulous manual work ensure optimal quality. In the cellar, gentle pressing is essential to preserve the purity and distinct characteristics of each vineyard. Fermentation takes place in both stainless steel and small oak barrels, depending on the nature of the must, allowing winemakers to interpret each base wine individually.
A defining element of Bellavista’s approach is the extensive selection and separation of base wines. Each parcel is vinified separately to highlight its unique expression, and only later blended into cuvées through a highly complex and delicate process. This ensures that each wine reflects both the personality of the vintage and the consistent house style.
The second fermentation occurs in the bottle, followed by long aging on the lees in the underground cellars. This slow and silent maturation enhances the wines’ aromatic complexity, structure, and fine perlage. Traditional techniques such as manual riddling and disgorgement are still used, especially for the most prestigious cuvées, emphasizing the artisanal nature of production.
Bellavista wines are known for their balance, finesse, and depth, combining freshness with complexity. Each cuvée is crafted like a tailored creation, expressing the richness of Franciacorta while maintaining a refined and unmistakable style—an invitation to pleasure and a celebration of the territory.
