Bodegas Góngora

Founded in 1682, Bodegas Góngora is one of Spain’s oldest family-run wineries, now in its 7th generation. Located in Villanueva del Ariscal, within the Aljarafe region of Seville, the winery is housed in the historic country estate of “Pata de Hierro.” With over three centuries of winemaking tradition, Bodegas Góngora has become a living testament to the art of aging wine. Historic cellars like “Bodega 126” and “Bodega de Pata de Hierro” still preserve the oldest wines in the estate. Each cellar, with its unique conditions of humidity, orientation, and temperature, is dedicated to specific styles—from delicate Finos and Amontillados to rich Olorosos and sweet wines. The result is a legacy of craftsmanship deeply rooted in the terroir and climate of the Aljarafe.

Bodegas Góngora’s vineyards are located in Villanueva del Ariscal, in the heart of Aljarafe, just 42 km from the Atlantic coast. The Mediterranean climate, combined with prevailing sea breezes, creates the ideal conditions for growing native grapes. The winery specializes in the Garrido Fino variety, a grape native to the region, known for its thin skin, juicy pulp, and bright green-yellow hue. This grape is used in the production of Fino sherries, dry whites, and fortified wines. In addition, Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez grapes are cultivated for their naturally sweet profiles, perfect for creating luscious dessert wines. Each bottle from Bodegas Góngora reflects the heritage, microclimate, and centuries of tradition behind every vintage.
