La visita a este lugar es mágica, el lugar y la manera en que Diego nos mostró la manera de hacer vino en este lugar es increíble. Hemos visitado varios viñedos en diferentes países pero este sin duda es distinto a todos los demás. Lo recomiendo mucho

About Winery and Wines

Cantina del Malandrino is part of an organic farm spanning approximately 28 hectares on the East/North-East side of Etna. We are located in the land of Mascali, the birthplace of Nerello Mascalese, the grape typically used for Etna wine. This steep slope benefits from the fresh air coming from the sea.

We welcome our guests in the ancient Palmento from the late 19th century, carefully renovated using green building techniques and natural materials. Within these walls, steeped in stories and passions, our bottled wine rests before reaching the glass.

The vineyard and production cellar are situated at the top of the hill, 500 meters above sea level, approximately 1.5 kilometers away. As you cross the farm to reach it, either on foot or by car, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the natural and cultivated biodiversity of our orchards, which feature subtropical and ancient Sicilian varieties. You will also witness our eco-sustainable practices and the overall project of the farm, including other types of "palmento" and "masserie" renovated for guests.

In the vineyard, surrounded by terraces and low lava stone walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will discover the reasons behind the ancient method of cultivating "sapling" vines. Once in the cellar, inside another historic Palmento, you will have the chance to see firsthand the shapes and materials that influence the evolution of wine, admiring the different types of amphorae made from natural terracotta, cocciopesto, and Georgian qvevri.

We produce our wine with passion, trying to best represent the place that hosts us, the salty breeze that caresses the terraces, the soft light of dawn in the vineyard and the colorful contrasts of the lava terroir. Every year we interpret the different climatic conditions that bring the grapes to maturity and after the exclusively manual harvest, we make wine in natural terracotta or cocciopesto amphorae. Our wine speaks of the sea and minerals, it tells the personality of Diego who takes care of it from the vineyard to the bottle and loves to be drunk in company.
