About Winery and Wines

Welcome to the Nepos Villae winery, a place that encompasses centuries of tradition, dedication and love for the art of oenology. Our history begins a long time ago, exactly since 1875 as recorded in our historical cellar barrels.

Our wine cellar is located in a picturesque corner of the countryside, among rolling hills and well-tended vineyards. This terroir, rich in history and unique characteristics, is the ideal base for the cultivation of the grapes that will give life to our fine wines.

Behind the scenes, there is a team of passionate experts who work tirelessly to ensure that each bottle carries quality and excellence. We know every single vine in our vineyards and know exactly when the time is right for the harvest. Our experience and dedication are reflected in every sip of our wines.

Passion for our work is the beating heart of Nepos Villae. We believe that the production of exceptional wines is an art, and we are determined to preserve and perfect this art in every possible way. Our dedication also extends to sustainability, as we are committed to preserving our environment and growing our grapes with respect for nature.

Each bottle of Nepos Villae tells a story, a story of tradition, passion and love for wine. We hope that when you taste our wines, you will be able to perceive all that we put into every drop. Thank you for joining us on this journey through the world of wine and for sharing our passion.

Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 'Contrà del Tono': 'Contrà del Tono', a village that once stood along the road from Villa to Quena in Valpolicella, is now a faded memory. This wine pays homage to this lost place, celebrating the people who once inhabited these lands. It is produced in the Negrar Valley, in Valpolicella Classica, from vines such as Corvina Nizza, Corvina Grande, Rondinella and Molinara. The grapes are harvested by hand, dried for about 20 to 30 days and then gently pressed at low temperatures. After vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel and cryomaceration with manual punching down, the wine is aged in stainless steel until March or April and then in wooden barrels for 12/18 months and then in the bottle for at least a year. This wine has a ruby red colour with aromas of ripe cherries, berries and notes of black pepper and cloves. It offers elegant tannins, good sapidity and a fresh, persistent finish with almond notes.

Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso DOC "Strada Campiona": "Strada Campiona" is dedicated to the ancient Roman road that connected Villa Quintarelli Ruffo to the family properties, acting as a bridge between the Negrar and Valpantena valleys. This wine, produced in the Negrar Valley, Valpolicella Classica, uses grape varieties such as Corvina Nizza, Corvina Grande, Rondinella and Molinara. The grapes are harvested by hand and some are subjected to a drying period of about 20 to 30 days. The wine undergoes vinification in steel with cryomaceration, followed by Ripasso on Amarone marc for about 40 days. It matures in large French oak barrels for 36 months and then in the bottle for at least 12 months before release. It is characterised by an intense ruby red colour with rich red fruit and cherry notes, full-bodied but rounded tannins, spicy black pepper and a fresh and persistent finish with balsamic notes.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 'Campo di Villa': 'Campo di Villa' is a unique cru vineyard that represents the historic and innovative spirit of Quintarelli Ruffo. Located in the Negrar Valley in Valpolicella Classica, this Amarone is made from Corvina Nizza, Corvina Grande, Rondinella and Molinara grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand and dried until mid-January, followed by soft pressing and vinification in stainless steel for about 40 days. The wine then matures in large French oak barrels for 60 months and in the bottle for 12/14 months. It has a garnet red colour, complex aromas, fruity and balsamic notes, and a fresh palate with round tannins, black pepper and almond notes.
