HALF HECTARE IN THE HEART OF VALPOLICELLA CLASSICA  Mezzo Ettaro is the brainchild of Giorgio Dolcetta who, following a major life change, decided to structure the farm commercially and productively based on what was initially just a hobby, to sell his products through hospitality.  Half a Hectare in name and fact! A small manicured vineyard on the Masùa hill cultivated personally by Giorgio Dolcetta, charismatic owner, and Leonardo Zamboni his promising helmsman. The care of every vine and olive tree on the estate is done strictly naturally and truly by hand so that you can savor all the authenticity of Mezzo Ettaro's terroir in a glass of Valpolicella Superiore DOC Bio, Rosato Veronese IGT Bio still or sparkling, or Amarone DOCG from the limited production. The grapes of Mezzo Ettaro are vinified separately at a prestigious winery on the Torricelle di Verona as the size of the winery does not allow direct vinification. Love for nature and respect for its times, passion for wine and local products give life to a wide variety of tastings, and with warmth and conviviality Giorgio and Leonardo welcome each of their guests into the house. In the coming season, Mezzo Ettaro aspires to provide its guests with two elegant furnished and equipped apartments with the possibility to have a couple's tasting in the heated Jacuzzi inside the lemon house, accompanied by music and an exclusive view of Valpolicella.

The Massaro farm was born from the passion and love for the land handed down from generation to generation to the present day. The family business started halfway through the 20th century when Valentino's father worked the lands as a sharecropper. Over the years, his passion for the land and his love for wine was passed onto his son Valentino, who decided to buy the land worked by his father, continuing the family tradition. The true turning point came in 2015 when Valentino's sons, driven by the passion handed down by their grandfather and father, decided to start making wine from their grapes instead of selling them. The name of the company, Massaro Norma, is a genuine tribute of the sons to their mother Norma.

In the heart of Valpolicella Classica, not far from the center of Negrar Di Valpolicella, rises the Antica Corte Forlago (Ancient Corte Forlago), in the historical district where the Franchini family has been passionately pursuing its wine tradition for generations. The estate and the vineyards extend over a hilly surface of about 5 hectares, at an altitude ranging from 280 up to 500 meters above sea level. A long and careful genealogical research traced back the “Franchini” family name to the “Franks”, original inhabitants of the ancient Gaul and settlers in Northern Italy. Antica Corte Forlago and its vineyards, grown using the typical Pergola veronese, offer a panoramic view on the wide valley below and is lifelike testimony of the charm of the ancient Corte. In the past, manual labour was the main feature both in the fields and in the winemaking process. Over the centuries, the art of Italian craftsmanship has deeply shaped this land leaving lasting traces of ancient times, such as the Roman mosaic floor (ca. 300 AD) recently found under some vineyards around the estate. The main symbol of the past is the underground icehouse (nevera) which represents the essential core of the winery. Nowadays, the old winemaking techniques leading to the creation of the wine are still respected in all their aspects. The whole production is carried out following the tradition and with great respect for nature, starting from the pruning, natural fertilization and attention to grape bunches, up to the harvesting. The natural appassimento (drying process) and all other stages of wine-making are carried out with special artisanal attention. All our best wines have a special paper label applied by hand to convey the exclusiveness of each bottle. Our vineyards All 5 hectares are located in a hilly area at an altitude that reaches about 500 metres above sea level and guarantees an excellent temperature range between day and night. The fields are all divided in terraces called marogne, dry stone walls that enable to grow vines on a steep slope and, at the same time, ensure great exposure to the sun. The idea behind their construction is to facilitate the drainage of water towards the valley.

I am Gianfranco Elampini, a winemaker in the heart of Valpolicella. In 2001, I founded Vigna '800 with a single ambition: to produce authentic wine using only the grapes from my land, following the traditions passed down by my father, Gino. For me, winemaking is about more than just crafting a product; it’s about honoring the genuine flavors of our territory and the love we hold for our land. A glass of wine tells the story of the land it comes from, its origins, and its evolution. Sitting in the shade of the vines, I can savor the result of a solar year, transforming the gifts of nature into the renowned wines of Valpolicella. Vigna '800 takes its name from an ancient carved stone, symbolizing a tribute to history and tradition. The name reflects the passage of time—marking both the end of one century and the beginning of another—while holding fast to the traditional winemaking techniques that continue to guide us today. For me, making wine is like raising children; each bottle needs to be nurtured, listened to, and carefully guided to maturity.

By its very nature, Casa Sartori 1898 is not interested in the oddities that increasingly seem to attract the attention of many producers and consumers. Andrea, Luca, and their colleagues in Colognola ai Colli prefer to remain faithful to a more sober, elegant, and timeless style that more than anything else best represents them. This is the real "innovation" of Casa Sartori 1898: the ability to adapt their wines appropriately, without succumbing to passing fads that, like violent thunderstorms, cyclically cloud the skies of the wine scene. However, above all, it is the satisfaction that comes from getting in touch with nature, so dear to the Veronese, and from conscientiously and respectfully making something unique to share with the people and places they love most.

Negrar, Marano, San Pietro in Cariano, Fumane and Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella. These are the villages that form the core of the Valpolicella Classico area which is where our heart lies. Just a few kilometres away from the Verona of Catullo and Shakespeare and blessed by the benign influence of Lake Garda, lie rolling hillsides ribboned with drystone walls that pick out the terraces on which our vines are planted. The varieties are time-honoured favourites: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara and together they form the soul of our wines whether Valpolicella Classico and Superiore or the peerless Amarone and Recioto.
