Cantina Nuraghe Antigori
About the Winery
Our name has deep historical roots, while our company, established in 2015, looks to the future with ambition and a spirit of innovation.
Anthigori, in Sardinian, means “place of ancient things” and is also the name of the Nuraghe Anthigori, one of the most important nuraghi in Sardinia, dating back to the 2nd millennium BC, located just a few hundred meters from Baccalamanza, in the territory of Capoterra, where our company is based.
The Anthigori estate extends over more than 500 hectares, 21 of which are dedicated to vineyards, stretching across the slopes that descend from the mountains to the sea, in a land once known as “su Spantu,” meaning “wonder,” a name that reflects its extraordinary beauty.
Our story is rooted in what was once the largest agricultural enterprise in Italy, founded by Giuseppe Cardile, which expanded to over 8,000 hectares.
As early as 1932, the Cardile estate stood out for its modern and advanced agricultural system, covering approximately 8,800 hectares. A visionary entrepreneur, Cardile promoted the processing and direct sale of products in local markets, creating employment for hundreds of workers—between 500 and 1,000 employees—making it the largest agricultural operation in Sardinia.
However, in the 1950s, rapid industrialization drew labor away from the land, leading to the sale of the estate.
After several changes in ownership, the property was acquired by Romano Fanti, who initiated a major winemaking project by involving the renowned oenologist Giacomo Tachis. Thanks to his contribution, Sardinian wines gained renewed recognition, becoming authentic expressions of their territory.
More recently, the estate was acquired by its current ownership, becoming Azienda Agricola Baccalamanza.
Today, through Cantine Nuraghe Anthigori, Carlo and Francesca are leading a renaissance of the land, inspired by Cardile’s original vision, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and community, aiming to restore to Sardinia a new standard of agricultural and winemaking excellence.
About the Wines
At Cantine Nuraghe Anthigori, the land is our most precious asset. For this reason, we have chosen to cultivate our vineyards according to the principles of organic farming—a method that respects the natural balance of the ecosystem and enhances the authenticity of our wines.
Practicing organic agriculture means avoiding the use of synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, instead favoring natural farming techniques that preserve soil fertility and biodiversity. In our vineyards, we use only natural products and adopt practices such as green manure, composting, and biological pest control, ensuring a healthy and thriving environment for our vines.
Bovale, Carignano, Cannonau and Vermentino grapes makes ours best Red, Rosè and White wines.
