About Winery and Wines

In contrada Torlazzo, near Minervino Murge, in northern Apulia, in a field once arid and stony, today rises a flourishing wine company: Cantine Colle Petrito. It was necessary to look beyond that uncultivated field to discover its vocation. Cantine Colle Petrito was an idea, a dream and a project born from three friends with a common passion for wine. With Antonio, Giuseppe and Michele in 2005 was born the agricultural company Colle Petrito, a new chapter for our land which has always been considered not very fertile, the search for redemption and many goals to be achieved, the first among all: to make known the Apulian wine production. Over the years Cantine Colle Petrito has availed itself of an entourage of professionals and of the passion and competence of its tireless founders in order to increase production and to exalt the quality of wines. The Apulian winery has a deep respect for raw matter, Colle Petrito bottles also evoke distant traditions, stories of a land among myths and legends, where the beverage of Bacchus has been sung and told, to which are associated innovation and research, a perfect union for an original and high quality wine.

Cantine Colle Petrito is located near Minervino Murge, a medieval village known for its historical center, the scesciola, a labyrinth of narrow streets and tuff arches, for the cave of St. Michael the Archangel, a masterpiece sculpted by nature more than two million years ago and a breathtaking view that the balcony of Apulia offers to its visitors. The Colle Petrito winery is set in a unique natural context, near the Alta Murgia National Park established in 2004. The territory of Murgia is articulated among dolines, ravines, blades and caves, moreover this wonderful spectacle of nature is joined by ancient buildings of historical and cultural interest, which are set in the landscape: farms, stone fences, the well-known iazzo or jazzo, a place where shepherds used to rest during the period of transhumance, various archaeological sites and the imposing Castel del Monte, historical evidence of the Swabian domination. Apulia is a luxuriant and flourishing land, where nature shows off its magnificence from the sandy to the rocky coast, from centuries-old olive groves to opulent vineyards, from the crystal clear sea to its soft hills, from its monumental churches to the most ancient villages among whose streets echo stories of witches and legends that transport visitors in dreamlike dimensions.
