About Winery and Wines

Tenuta S. Agnese is a company with a long heritage of three generations of the Fanetti family. Located at the foot of the Historic Center of Montepulciano, this picturesque farm is spread over 112 hectares, including 18 vineyards, 12 olive groves and more. Here Elisabetta Fanetti, the current owner and custodian of the estate, and her staff dedicate meticulous care to the vines through green pruning, thinning of bunches and careful grape selection during harvest. The density is set at an impressive 3,000 plants per hectare and the soils are of Pliocene origin consisting mostly of clayey sand. Appreciated all around the world, Tenuta S. Agnese wines are available in Italy and abroad, particularly in the US, Switzerland, Germany, and Sweden.

The very auspicious position of our vineyards, covering nearly 20 hectares, combined with the excellent quality of Pliocene soil, allow us to produce some of the best Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Our vineyards are perched at an average altitude of 340 meters above sea level, creating an optimal environment for cultivating Prugnolo gentile. Through meticulous care taken in our vineyards, without any forcing and limited use of chemicals, we are able to reach heights of excellence. Traditional winemaking methods are employed, along with a careful selection of hand-picked grapes destined for Vino Nobile and Rosso di Montepulciano. The second grade of our grapes are utilized for the production of table wines sold both in bulk and in bottles.

Furthermore, we only vinify grapes from our own production and neither must nor grapes from other farms are purchased. The olive harvest takes place in November. Our olives, contained in boxes, are cold pressed at an outside mill, through a continuous extraction method, within 48 hours. After passing necessary chemical and organoleptic tests, our extra virgin olive oil obtains the D.O.P, (protected designation of origin) evidenced by the band placed on the bottle. Our oil can be acquired directly from our cellars.
