About Winery and Wines

The Foschini family, has a three-generation old passion for wine, combining tradition and the most advanced wine making technologies. The cellar was completely renovated in the early 2000s and gives the visitor a taste of ancient: it dates dating back to the ‘700s, the time of “Guardia delle sole” (guard of the soles), when the main activity of this area was leather tanning. From the cellar and through narrow alleys you can easily reach the medieval village and the Norman castle, mansion of the Sanframondo family. The winery is located in the town Guardia Sanframondi, on the rolling hills of Samnium area near Benevento, whose climatic conditions and soil are perfect for the cultivation of olive groves and vineyards. The Cantine Foschini have been working together with the expert winemaker Marco Ciarla and have created a new line of high quality wines that have yielded great results, especially the wines made with the Aglianico and Falanghina grapes, which are the great merit and pride of the viticulture of this area. The company has achieved quality results also on the other grape varieties, such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia of Candia, Montepulciano, “Agostinella” white grape and “Uva Longa” red. All of these wines are on the market as IGP (Wines with Protected Geographical Indication). One cannot of course forget about the bubbles: to complete our range in 2013 we have added a brut sparkling wine with a base of Falanghina grape, produced with long Charmat method to enhance the organoleptic properties typical of the grape. Cantine Foschini offers high quality wines for everyday drinking, but at the same time a sophisticated taste and an excellent quality/price ratio.

1) Margio’ igp Malvasia Beneventano: The name Malvasia indicates many vines, most of them white berried, geographically distributed throughout Italy. Although of different origins, all these vines share some basic characteristics: in fact they all present, even if with different degrees of intensity, a spicy fragrance of musk and apricot.

2) Dama Leonessa - Falanghina del Sannio dop: Falanghina is a white grape variety that grows mainly in the provinces of Naples, Avellino and Benevento. There are many versions about the origin of the name: it may derive from the term “Falernina”, direct descendant of Falerno Bianco; from “falango”, or “pole” for the characteristic type of viticulture. Or from “phalanx” or “fingertip” according to the thesis that says that the shape of the grape reminds that of a finger.

3) Portella Serrata - Sannio ROSSO DOP: A blend of Piedirosso and Longa grapes (native), harmonious and with a good structure, excellent also when young

4) Petra Nera - Sannio Aglianico DOP: Aglianico is a typically southern wine, introduced by the Greeks and splendidly acclimatized in Campania in the Provinces of Avellino and Benevento

5) Sabus Sannio Aglianico DOP Roserva: Aglianico is, together with Falanghina, the grape more representative of Benevento, a native grape that only here manages to offer these incredible scents.

6) Spumante Brut of Falanghina'wine: From the wise work on Falanghina grapes there comes this sparkling wine made with the Charmat method, with a thin and persistent perlage.

7) EXTRAVIRGIN OLIVE OIL COLD EXTRACTED UNFILTERED: Extra virgin olive oil produced by Cantine Foschini it comes from about 500 centuries-old olive trees, it has characteristics sensorial typical of a highly original varietal base; among the native cultivars from which we obtain extra virgin olive oils of great value, we mainly remember the Ortice, the Racioppella and the Ortolana. They are very ancient and very different varieties, each characterized by its own organoleptic characteristics.

The Ortice with an intense aroma, and very spicy and bitter I decided; The Ortolana, also known as Melella, characterized by a wonderful hint of green apple and medium fruity; And finally the Racioppella, with a sweet and delicate taste where you can feel hints of almond and tomato. The olives are harvested by hand and cold pressed within 24/48 h.
