About Winery and Wines

Cantine Santa Fosca was founded in 2014 by Carolina Caccavale and her family in Venticano (AV), right in the heart of Irpinia, a land historically devoted to viticulture. Located at 370 meters above sea level, the winery carefully selected the most favorable positions for its vineyards, with a strong focus on producing Taurasi DOCG, the full-bodied red wine often referred to as the “Barolo of the South.”

Viticulture holds a place of prestige among the agricultural activities of Venticano, and the wines of Santa Fosca—Taurasi DOCG, Irpinia Aglianico DOC, and others—are renowned for their authenticity and quality.

The estate vineyards, all family-owned, extend over 16 hectares of rolling hills characterized by calcareous-clay soils and a distinctive continental microclimate. These conditions provide an ideal environment for cultivating grapes of exceptional quality. Respect for the land is central to the winery’s philosophy: the vines are farmed without harmful fungicides, preserving the natural balance of the soil.

From the pure vinification of Aglianico grapes grown exclusively in their vineyards near Taurasi, Santa Fosca crafts its acclaimed Taurasi DOCG and Irpinia Aglianico DOC wines. The winery also produces an excellent expression of Coda di Volpe DOC, further highlighting the richness and diversity of Irpinia’s winemaking tradition.Aglianico Doc.
