About Winery and Wines

In the heart of the province of Trapani, there is a place where myth, history and wine have lived together for thousands of years: Erice, a small and ancient town situated on the top of a mountain. Erice was inhabited by the Elymians, a mysterious people of which very little is still known and which legend has directly descended from the Trojans. The Fazio family has been dedicated for four generations to the art of winemaking in the territory of Erice, in the province of Trapani, where viticulture has ancient roots, as demonstrated by the archaeological finds dating back to the Phoenician era; for this reason the Fazio family and the partner and Winemaker Giacomo Ansaldi were promoters of the recognition of the Erice Doc, symbol of the dedication that binds the company to the territory. The Fazio Winery operates in compliance with the rhythms imposed by nature, using systems that limit the impact on the environment as much as possible. Breeding in the vineyard and the entire production cycle take place according to principles inspired by strict compliance with environmental sustainability standards and the use of energy from renewable sources.

The Fazio Wine House has at heart the enhancement of native vines such as Grillo, Catarratto, and Nero d'Avola, which find their natural cradle in the Erice district, but also international vines such as Muller Thurgau, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Syrah. The vineyards of the company grow on the hills on the slopes of Mount Erice, between 250 and 700 meters above sea level. The presence of mountains and the proximity of the sea, the cool and windy climate, the peculiar orographic conformation, the geological nature of the terrain and the considerable temperature changes give these places unique characteristics suitable for producing rich and concentrated black grapes that generate soft and elegant wines and white grapes with good acidity, characterized by aromas of white flowers and citrus notes that give the wines elegance and delicacy.
