CAVES AMBACIA
About the Winery
Founded in 1463, Caves Ambacia is a historic Loire Valley winery located in Amboise, overlooking the Loire River and just steps from the town’s historic center. The winery combines centuries of winemaking heritage with a modern and innovative approach, welcoming visitors into its remarkable 15th-century troglodyte caves carved into the limestone hillside.
At Caves Ambacia, great importance is given to terroir and sustainable viticulture. The winery carefully selects vineyard parcels planted on sunny slopes and cultivated with environmentally respectful practices, including organic, biodynamic, and organic-transition farming. Some vineyards feature centuries-old vines, allowing for low yields and exceptional grape quality.
From vineyard management to ageing, every stage of production reflects generations of expertise and a deep respect for nature. The wines are crafted using a variety of traditional ageing methods, including barrels, amphorae, and jars, in search of the perfect balance between freshness, complexity, elegance, and structure.

Caves Ambacia is especially known for its Vouvray wines and its exceptional collection of aged vintages, preserving bottles dating back more than 150 years. The winery’s approach combines ancestral know-how with modern precision, resulting in wines that balance fruit, minerality, roundness, and depth.
Depending on the cuvée, wines are aged in barrels, amphorae, jars, or other traditional vessels to enhance their personality and complexity. Each bottle reflects the unique identity of its vineyard and vintage, offering a refined journey through the history and terroirs of the Loire Valley.
