Chateau Ergenekon

Winery in Marmara, Aegean region

About the Winery

Château Ergenekon is a small family winery located in the village of Bigalı on the Gallipoli Peninsula in northwestern Türkiye. The estate sits between the Aegean and Marmara seas, surrounded by rolling vineyards, limestone soils, and the soft winds that define this unique region.

Our story began with a simple dream to create something lasting and honest from this land. What started as a family passion grew into a way of life that connects us to nature and to the people who share our wines. The building that now serves as our winery was once the village wheat depot. In 2015, we restored it with care and transformed it into a working cellar equipped with modern tools while preserving its original character. The project received partial support from the European Union, helping us turn a piece of village history into a living part of our future.

From the beginning, our philosophy has remained the same: low yield and high quality. We cultivate about twelve hectares of vineyards and use only the grapes we grow ourselves. Each vine is cared for by hand throughout the year. The vineyards are certified organic, and we avoid all chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides.

Working here means living closely with nature. The seasons bring both calm and challenge. Winds from two seas shape the vines, while the soil and sunlight add their quiet strength. Every year teaches us something new about patience and respect. This rhythm of the land has become the rhythm of our family.

At Château Ergenekon, wine begins long before the bottle. It begins in the soil, in the work of many hands, and in the stories that are shared around a table. We welcome visitors who wish to experience this life with us, to walk through the vineyards, feel the air of Gallipoli, and understand what makes this place so special.

For us, winemaking is not just production. It is a way of living, of listening to nature, and of creating something meaningful together.

About the Wines

Boğalı

Boğalı is our tribute to the village of Bigalı, where our story began. The name comes from the old name of the village, and the label carries the artwork of Hakan Dündar. Boğalı is produced in red, white, and rosé. It is lively, generous, and made to be enjoyed in good company, just as we do at home.

Boğalı Rezerv

Boğalı Rezerv is a more mature expression of Boğalı. It is the result of patience and careful aging, giving the wine depth and structure while preserving the freshness of the fruit. The 2019 vintage received a gold medal at the Balkans International Wine Competition in Greece, a proud moment for our small family.

Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem is our single-varietal series, created to capture the character of each grape in its purest form. These wines are fresh and unadorned, allowing the natural expression of the fruit and the terroir to speak clearly. The name reminds us to live the moment and to appreciate the beauty of each harvest.

Inferno

Inferno was born from an unexpected moment in our history. During the 2024 season, a wildfire came dangerously close to our vineyards, and what could have been a disaster turned into inspiration. Inferno is an amber wine made from white grapes left on their skins, resulting in deep color, layered texture, and striking energy. It carries the memory of that season and the spirit of resilience that defines our work. The wine was awarded gold at the 2025 Balkans International Wine Competition.

Bona Dea

Bona Dea is the heart of Château Ergenekon and the symbol of our philosophy. Named after the Roman goddess of fertility and renewal, Bona Dea represents life, patience, and devotion. We produce it only in exceptional vintages, letting the wine rest in oak barrels and then in bottle until it reaches harmony. Past vintages of Bona Dea have been recognized internationally, including a silver medal at the International Wine Challenge in London and a gold medal at the Korean Wine Challenge in Seoul.

Regius

Regius takes its name from the Latin word for royal. It is a wine of strength and elegance, combining depth and refinement in equal measure. Regius reflects our wish to create wines that stand proudly among the classics while keeping the honesty of their origin.

Singularis

Singularis expresses the purest link between vineyard and vintage. Each bottle comes from a single variety and a specific parcel of vines. It represents focus, patience, and precision. Singularis is aged carefully, allowing the wine to find its balance before it ever reaches a glass. It is our quietest and most thoughtful creation, made for those who seek authenticity in its truest form.
