About Winery and Wines
Château Ferran has been planted with vines since the 18th century, when the estate belonged to Montesquieu.
In the late 1990s, Philippe and Ghislaine Beraud-Sudreau took over the management of the vineyard, supporting the investments needed to awaken this sleeping beauty.
Since early 2018, Thibault — the fifth generation of the family — has taken over the management of Château Ferran, meaning the estate has remained in the same family without any change of ownership since 1880.
The 70-hectare estate is equally divided between vineyards, century-old forests, and pastures for Limousin cattle. We use manure in the vineyard when necessary and have been hosting a beekeeper in part of the forest for over 20 years, as part of our long-standing commitment to biodiversity.
We have held HVE (High Environmental Value) Level 3 certification since 2018 and reached Level 4 in 2023.
We currently farm using a sustainable and reasoned approach:
– No herbicides,
– Use of pheromone confusion techniques instead of insecticides,
– Only using products free from CMR substances (carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic).
Thanks to Château Ferran's clay-limestone soils, the estate's red wines stand out for their freshness, finesse, and silky texture.
As for their white wines, they are intensely fruity, with a subtle saline touch, a lovely roundness, and a hint of richness on the palate.
